NxClinical allows for the upload of annotation information in the form of Sample Attributes. These pre-defined fields allow for inclusion of any and all information that might be of interest for the lab. Along with set fields for Display Name, Gender, Sample Linkage and Phenotype information, additional fields may be added by the NxClinical system administrator. Examples of annotation of interest may include batch information, spike-in controls, quality metrics, lab processing information and notes. By default, each field will be an open text option. However, if the attribute has a fixed set of inputs, these can be included to allow for further filtering of results.
As an example, imagine we include an attribute called Tech Reviewer and we include the initials of the 5 technicians on staff. The system administrator will include this specific information in the admin tab for each applicable sample type. The attributes for each sample can be uploaded as a .txt file or manually assigned within each sample. Once the attributes are assigned to the sample, we can now use this information to further refine our search terms when looking for specific samples or results.
By including relevant information for your full review process, along with relevant sample information, you can quickly identify the exact samples which are ready for you to review!
