Despite many advances in science and genomics technology, the diagnostic yield for patients with cancer or genetic disease hasn’t increased much. The Greenwood Genetic Center set out on an ambitious plan to change this by pioneering large scale application of a number of novel technologies on hard or impossible to diagnose samples.
As Director of the Cytogenetics Lab at Greenwood Genetic Center, Alka Chaubey has long believed that de novo genome mapping by Bionano could make a dent in that diagnostic yield. She’s this week’s guest at the always excellent Mendelspod podcast. We bet there’s no better way to spend 23 minutes today than to hear her out.
